IRENE KRAL

A cantora de jazz Irene Kral, nasceu no 18 de janeiro de 1932, em Chicago,Illinois. O irmão mais velho de Irene, Roy Kral, fazia sucesso como cantor, na época em que ela começou a cantar profissionalmente, ainda na adolescência.


Inicou cantando em bandas itinerantes lideradas por Woody Herman e Chubby Jackson, que foi baixista na banda de Herman.


Juntou-se a banda de Maynard Fergusson no final dos anos 50 e cantou também em bandas liderados por Stan Kenton e Shelly Manne. Até a sua morte prematura, aos 46 anos, desenvolveu carreira solo. Irene foi uma excelente cantora de baladas, que uma vez declarou ser Carmen McRae, a sua fonte de inspiração.

A critica especializada considera o CD "Where is Love" (1974), como o melhor de sua carreira

Irene, faleceu de um câncer na mama, em agosto de 1978.

Jazz vocalist Irene Kral, was born on January 18th, 1932 in Chicago,Illinois. Irene's older brother, Roy Kral, was a successful musician when Irene started singing professionally as a teenager. She sang with bands on tours led by Woody Herman and Chubby Jackson, former Herman bass player.






Irene joined Maynard Ferguson's band in the late 1950s and sang with groups led by Stan Kenton and Shelly Manne.






Irene then started a solo career until her death at 46 years of age. She was a ballad singer who stated that Carmen McRae was one of her inspirations.






Irene was made more famous posthumously when Clint Eastwood used her recordings in his 1995 movie, The Bridges of Madison County.





Irene passaed away in August,1978.
