Bryson é filha da compositora Connie Bryson e do genial trompetista Dizzy Gillespie. Era casada com o guitarrista Coleman Mellett, que morreu no desastre do vôo 3407 da Continental Airlines.
Quando estudava na Uiversidade de Rutgers, estudou com o pianista Kenny Barron e foi nesta época que recebeu sua maior influência do jazz. Bryson tem se apresentado com frequência nas Americas do Norte e do Sul, Europa, Israel e Japão e vem recebendo da crítica especializada internacional, grande reconhecimento.
Além de seus albuns pela gravadora Telarc "I Love Being Here With You", "Tonight I Need You So" e "Some Cats Know" (tributo à Peggy Lee) gravou com famosos do porte de Etta Jones, Larry Coryell, Grove Washington Jr., Terence Blanchar, Kenny Burrell entre outros.
Em 1968 Terence Blanchard gravou o CD "In My Solitude: The Billie Holiday Songbook" para a gravadora Columbia, com Jeannie Bryson como vocalista esbanjando suavidade. Neste album, destaque para a sua leitura de "Nice Work if You Can Get It", "What a Little Moonlight Can Do", "Fine and Mellow" e "Strange Fruit".
Sua estréia em estúdio ocorreu em 1993 com o album " I Love Being Here with You" que foi sucesso de critica e público. Em 2001 lançou o CD "Deja Blue" que entre outros fatores, impressiona o ouvinte com voz aveludada.

American singer Jeanie Bryson, was born on March 10, 1958 in New York City. She does a combination of jazz. pop and Latin music. The singer's repertoire is based on durable jazz and pop standards, firmly rooted in The Great American Songbook and the legacies of Peggy Lee and Dinah Washington.
Bryson is the daughter of songwriter Connie Bryson and Dizzy Gillespie. Her husband was guitarista Coleman Mellett, who died in the February 2009 crash of Continental Airlines Flight 3407.
