KOKO TAYLOR, MORRE AOS 80 ANOS. Koko Taylor, considerada a "Rainha do Blues" morreu nesta quarta-feira em Chicago aos 80 anos.

Wang Dang Doodle Song deu a Koko Taylor projeção no mundo do blues. Na época em que foi descoberta trabalhava como faxineira e a noite, substituia cantores nas bandas de blues de Chicago. Wang Dang foi seu primeiro sucesso e também a ultima canção que cantou um mês atras, ao receber o seu vigésimo nono Prêmio Musica Blues.

Os preparativos do funeral estão em andamento.


The Queen of the Blues, Koko Taylor, has died. She passed away this Wednesday at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago from complications following surgery. She was 80.

She also sitting in with various blues bands in Chicago when she was discovered. This was her first big hit, and the last song she performed about a month ago while picking up her 29th Blues Music Award.


Marc Lipkin was her long-time publicist and friend at Alligator Records once said that a lot of people say B.B. King can play one note on his guitar, and Koko could immediately say, 'Yeah, that's B.B. King.'

Koko Taylor's possibly the only person I've ever met who can sing one note and you'd immediately go, that's Koko Taylor. She can do one growl, one of her patented, 'Oh yeahs,; and you'd immediately know that was Koko Taylor.

Lipkin says Taylor was such a powerful presence, the label named one of her albums, Force of Nature.
