Freddy Cole um dos monstros sagrados do genero jazz reabre as comportas da nossa usina de jazz através do programa "Momentos de Jazz" que este ano completará em abril 14 anos, sempre aos domingos de 20h00 as 22h00 pelas ondas da Radio Amazonas FM 101,5.
No cd "A Circle of Love" destaque para a leitura bossanoviana-jazzistica que Freddy faz em inglês de "Manhã de Carnaval" de Luiz Bonfá.
O legendário vibrafonista Lionel Hampton pouco antes de seu falecimento lançou o cd antologico "For the Love of Music" no qual revisitou inovando os seus grandes sucessos como "Flying Home" e "Take the A Train". Audição imperdivel.
Segundo os criticos de plantão, os inglêses de Yorkshire resolveram dar uma resposta local ao estilo de Harry Connick Jr, quando lançaram Peter Grant cantando jazz em 2005. A verdade é que o camarada tem musicalidade de alto nivel e a voz semelhante à dos grandes "crooners" do passado: "The best is yet to come", "The windmills of your mind" e "The more i see you" dão o tom "vintage" a um repertorio impecavel onde inclusive "The Fool on the hill" e "I saw her standing there" dos "The Beatles" pontificam.
A divina Natalie Cole está de volta com o cd "Still Unforgettable" no qual, mais uma vez, canta beneficiada pela moderna tecnologia, com seu pai Nat King Cole o classico "Walking My Baby Back Home". Este cd certamente deverá constar como um dos melhores da carreira da cantora. Anotem ai.

Nat King Cole: Unforgettable
Some people don’t much remember Nat ‘King’ Cole. Some people never really knew about him. But, once you really heard him, he was in a word: Unforgettable.
Decades after his death, a miracle resurrection occurred. It was one of those odd quirks of fate, one of those things that is not supposed to happen, not supposed to work, but it does. A daughter revives her father’s memory by the use of modern technology. On paper this sounds like an ultimate ego trip or some shady producer’s morbid idea of how to milk a legend for all it’s worth. Natalie Cole re-recording her father’s music including a duet with her renowned progenitor. And what do they choose as the major track? Unforgettable.
I, and I am sure thousands of other old heads, shuddered when we heard about the planned recording. What desecration. Talk about digging up the dead. But, give credit where credit is due, somehow this half-baked idea ended up being a success, a bold experiment that really, really worked. Indeed, it too was unforgettable.
The only other thing I have to say is: thank you Nat ‘King’ Cole, not only for being a major force in the development of our music, but also for being a man, a Black man willing to face down white power at a time when lynching was an American sport. You are truly: unforgettable.
